These coasters look stunning! I love the look of the forged carbon. They can be a little tricky to get in and out of the base, but it's minor and more importantly the base displays the coasters perfectly. And, at the end of the day they perform the job (protecting my table!) well and I don't have to worry about them ever breaking...
I purchased two sets of these coasters because I absolutely love common fibers- I have used their wallets exclusively for years and their customer service and quality of product has been top notch. Since I love the look of carbon fiber and am a big fan of the company I went all in on these coasters when I needed a set for my new home. I've been using them for a little over a year, and I feel I can very accurately state the pros and cons for anyone on the fence: Pros: - Looks beautiful. Seriously, they are nice to look at. -Drinks don't slide on them (they stick, see below). Cons: -The base/holder is terrible. You will need to use both hands and take your time to actually get them in the slots. I feel like a surgeon with how obnoxiously precise I have to be to put these way. Even then, they won't stand up straight- they will lean to the front or back. -Super flimsy. Seriously, I expected these to be thick and they are in fact paper thin. -Drinks stick to them. As a glass sweats, the moisture will cause it to stick to this coaster. Then when you go to pick up your glass you will pick up the glass and the coaster attached to it, then hear a thud as it falls off onto the table or floor, since the things are so light you won't even notice it's there until you see it or it falls off. Seriously- this happens every time. Bottom Line: If you really care about appearances and love the look, go for it- but be warned that these don't fill the basic needs of what a coaster should do.
I bought these mainly because I love everything Carbon Fiber. I have a more modern home and I wanted something different. I have these in my Theater Room and every time I have someone over and they use them I get compliments. They are SUPER solid and the anti slip backing works great. Not worth deducting a star, however I will say although the base is a MUST for these, getting them in and out takes a little patience. The slots are tight to hold them which is great, you just need to line them up properly.
