Common Fibers is a family owned business founded in 2013 by Ann and Gabe Mountjoy in their college house garage. With backgrounds in engineering from Cal Poly, this power couple invented the world’s first carbon fiber living hinge while tinkering and building racecars. First applied to wallets and consumer goods on a Kickstarter campaign, they quickly became experts in high quantity production and product development. It was through this invention that CF was launched and their mission was made clear:
CF has grown organically out of the garage and into a 15,000 square foot facility now with a team of 20 passionate composite engineers and technicians. CF operates on a set of values that drives them towards success while ensuring they are having a good time and loving what they do.
about pushing the boundaries of composite manufacturing and not settling for the status quo. Through the years, CF has developed multiple cost-saving technologies and processes that set them apart from their competition and enables them to iterate fast and efficiently. These technologies have helped CF produce parts for over 200 customers covering a multitude of industries.
about its partnership with SSC North America, producing the world’s fastest production car, with speeds up to 300 MPH! These American made cars are built almost entirely of carbon fiber coming directly out of the Common Fibers facility in Seattle, including the entire chassis and all body panels.
has no plan of stopping here! The team is devoted to the continued growth of Common Fibers and the composites industry as a whole. Expect to see Common Fibers at the forefront of composite development for many years to come while working to bring manufacturing jobs back to the States.
