Common Fibers is a vertically integrated build-to-spec B2B composites manufacturer. We are capable of taking a project from its initial design through to mass production. We operate under two divisions: R&D and Production. Depending on a customer’s needs and where their project is in the development process, we will determine which services will be required. With all aspects of the process closely controlled and in-house, we can guarantee a smooth and painless launch to production.
Products that have never been made of carbon fiber before will go through our R&D division. This includes a complete DFM review to make suggestions that will reduce cost in the long run.
Once parts have graduated from our R&D division, they can launch into production. We are capable of running all aspects of the production process including final tooling, assembly, and paint/finish.
In-house composite tooling is our standard for most large scale parts. We machine high density foam plugs to then pull fiberglass or carbon fiber tools, depending on the application.
Aluminum or steel tooling is required for pressed pre-preg parts and recommended for smaller pre-preg parts. We can produce metal molds up to 15” x 30” in-house and work with a partner machine shop for larger tools when required.
Common Fibers has specialized in resin infusion (VARTM) for the past 10 years. We can make cosmetic and structurally sound parts of any size. We have produced everything from boats, cars, drones, airplanes, medical devices, and sporting equipment via this process.
Development in pre-preg materials has enabled Common Fibers to produce pre-preg parts out of autoclave with 95% of the same properties as autoclave cured materials at a fraction of the cost.
As we build composite assemblies, we are able to integrate additional components (plastic, metal, electronics, etc.) into the final product.
Our paint department specializes in Class A cosmetic clear carbon fiber finishes. Whether it is blocked and polished or an economy spray finish, your parts are sure to shine.
